1. ELIGIBILITY:

Your film must meet all submission requirements. Employees, officers, directors or representatives of Rain Bird, its affiliated companies, its advertisers, and promotion agents and their immediate families are not eligible.

2. TIMING:

Qualified entries will be accepted between 12:01 AM (PDT) on January 1, 2011 - 11:59 PM (PDT) on August 1, 2011. Winners will be selected from eligible entries received during that time period.

3. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Films must run between 1-10 minutes (total or excerpted time). Films must focus on the topic of responsible water use, exploring approaches and ideas to intelligently manage and efficiently utilize earth's most precious resource. Films may be narrative, documentary, animated, experimental and/or student-made productions. All entries must be submitted via this web site. All submissions are final. All entries must include name, phone, e-mail, and total running time. Material submitted may have been previously submitted elsewhere, and submission to this competition does not preclude filmmakers from submitting the same film elsewhere.

4. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

By submitting an entry, you agree:

  • To abide by all rules.
  • To accept as final the decisions of the judges.
  • That Rain Bird and its agencies reserve the right to exhibit submitted films a limitless number of times and in/through a limitless number of locations/media without paying you any fee.
  • That if selected as a finalist, you must either: 1) certify that your film has not been submitted elsewhere; or 2) give satisfactory evidence that you now have the full right to submit and publish it.
  • That you will retain all commercial rights for any exhibition not related to Rain Bird but that any such exhibition will not limit Rain Bird's right to exhibit the film.
  • That if you are a winner, information you have submitted concerning yourself and your prize may be utilized for publicity or advertising purposes without further consent or compensation to you.
  • That all related clearances and permissions must be obtained prior to submission. (It is your responsibility to obtain signed releases from any person whose recognizable likeness appears in your film and to obtain permission to use all other copyrighted works used in your film including still images, 3-D objects, music or musical compositions.) You will assume all liability that may arise from lacking clearances and permissions.

5. PRIZES AND WINNER SELECTION:

Finalists will be selected from among eligible submissions by an independent panel of judges. These finalists will have their films screened at an event in Los Angeles in the fall of 2011 (exact date and location to be communicated via event web site, www.iuowfilm.com), where the winners will be announced. Each film chosen as a finalist must have a representative present to be eligible to win a prize. Rain Bird will pay accommodations and travel for the finalists. Prizes will be awarded to the three films that best address the issue of water conservation, exploring approaches and ideas to intelligently manage and efficiently utilize earth's most precious resource. One prize of $6,000 will be awarded to the filmmaker whose film is selected by a panel of independent judges. A second prize of $6,000 will be awarded to the filmmaker whose film receives the most online votes from Green Industry professionals on a site managed by Questex Media Group. A third $3,000 prize will be awarded to the filmmaker whose film is selected by the audience. All three awards will be open to all competition participants.

6. NOTIFICATION OF FINALISTS:

Finalists selected to travel to Los Angeles to show their film at the final screening event will be notified by phone, mail or e-mail directly according to the information provided in their entry registration. Finalists will be required to execute and provide a Release of Liability, Publicity Release, License to Exhibit and such other lawful documentation or verification as may be required by law or by the Sponsor. In case of disqualification for any reason, alternate finalists may be selected.

7. OTHER RESTRICTIONS:

Prizes are not redeemable in alternate forms of award. Rain Bird reserves the right where necessary to substitute other comparable prizes of equal or greater value. Finalists and winners, by participation in the final screening event and/or by acceptance of any prize, agree to accept and be fully responsible for any liability related to or arising from their receipt or utilization of any prize awarded hereunder, including personal tax liability.
